Bamenda Translation Training Center
Bamenda is in the heart of the heaviest concentration of languages and translation projects in the entire country of Cameroon. National translators from many different language groups are training at the Bamenda Translation Training Center and translating the Scriptures into their own languages.
With the help of faithful supporters like you, the construction of the Bamenda Translation Training Center is completed! Thank you!
Today, the Center has a road, electricity, a storage building, two water wells and towers, a dormitory building, and a beautiful new office building—which houses administration, consulting, IT support, and classrooms. These buildings were dedicated in October 2013 to be used for Bible translation and to God’s glory.
During the first MAST training in Cameroon, twenty translators from five language groups were assigned to write a song in their own language.
Former Africa Area Director’s assistant, the late Peg Seitz, said on visiting the class, “We were there in time to watch each group perform, and the spirit with which they worked was just awesome.”
“For me,” she continued, “the best was that all five language groups were among the fourteen groups in Cameroon where Wycliffe Associates had previously deployed BTAK equipment.”
CABTAL Director Efi Tembon says, “We are amazed at how the Lord is using the ministry of Bible translation and community development to transform the lives of many across Cameroon. The Lord is opening up a great opportunity to work with many partners including the churches across the country.”
Establishing this new facility means that Bible translation for every language represented in that region of Africa may have a Bible by 2025—a huge contribution to Vision 2025!
